The story of Lejay Lagoute began in 1841 with Auguste-Denis Lagoute, the first liqueur merchant in Dijon, Burgundy. Together with his son-in-law Lejay, he experimented with blackcurrant liqueur until 1841. Since then, Lejay-Lagoute has always strived for innovation and quality, paying homage to blackcurrants and sharing French values such as authenticity and naturalness. From 1951 it became a cult drink as KIR (with Aligoté – dry white wine) and later as KIR-ROYAL (with champagne). This high-quality liqueur has an alcohol content of 16-20% and a sugar content of 450 to 500 g per litre. The "Syndicate for the Defense of the Crème de Cassis de Dijon" was awarded in 2017 for the preservation of tradition.
