BRÜNDLMAYER
The Muskateller (Muscat) grape variety was traditionally very popular in the Kamptal in the last few centuries, especially in order to lend liveliness and fragrance, along with its fine flavour, to the old “Gemischten Satz” - the field mix of grape varieties planted and harvested together. But it was also very popular as a delicious table grape.
Willi Bründlmayer replanted a small vineyard in 1997 on the Ried Rosenhügel, which regularly surprises us with its fruit as in 2021, when totally healthy and rather late harvested grapes boasted of aromas and freshness.

The Bründlmayer family manages 60 hectares of prime vineyards in Langenlois, located in Kamptal, Lower Austria. Founded by Ilse and Wilhelm Bründlmayer Senior, the winery has been under the guidance of Willi and Edwige Bründlmayer since 1980. Willi Bründlmayer's passion lies in his vineyards, most of which are terraced. He constantly contemplates the soil, climate, and grape varieties he cultivates to optimize grape quality.
Nose: Mind blowing bouquet of elderflowers, muscat & wild roses, at the same time fresh citrus peel and stone fruit, grapy & spicy.
Tongue: dry, with only hints of residual sugar balanced perfectly by a lively acidity, very juicy with a nice set of fruit tones following through the palate, elegantly structured though tightly woven, lively and persistent in the finish reminding of the fresh grape’s delicate skin.
Pairing recommendation: The Gelber Muskateller is a very versatile food companion, fitting to, for example, a range of exotic dishes, seafood, curries, wok dishes, and to typical Austrian specialties as well - such as baked foods, roast pork, duck and liver. It also marries well with cheeses, casseroles or robust fish dishes. Serve at 8 - 10°C.
