Privatbrennerei Gebhard Hämmerle
The "Saubirne" is an ancient regional pear variety from Vorarlberg, whose unique qualities were, in a way, discovered by pigs – hence the unusual name. The scent of the "Subira" is irresistibly enticing, tempting one to bite into the seemingly sweet fruit. However, it doesn’t take long for the extremely bitter taste and the gritty, woody texture to become apparent. Yet, when distilled, the Saubirne reveals a bold, bitter, and utterly unique flavour – a privilege reserved exclusively for distilleries in Vorarlberg.
