The 2012 Masseto benefited from another particularly dry, sunny year which, thanks to the rains just before harvest, provided perfect conditions for the ripening of the Merlot, without excessive heat or drought, favoured by the outstanding terroir of the Masseto vineyard. This vintage combines the essential characteristics of a great Masseto: voluptuous and generous, but also extremely fresh and with a firm structure in a wine of great intensity and complexity with intense colour. The olfactory impact reveals classic notes of red and black fruits, chocolate and liquorice, subtly refined with woody toasted notes. On the palate rounded and full-bodied, with a thick, dense tannic structure that is characterised by powerful fruit and spice notes. The finish is prolonged by a lively and vibrant acidity that finishes with a touch of intense freshness.
